Kaufering Concentration Camps

Around April 29-30, 1945, troops of the 36th Division were advancing into Germany near Landsberg when they began to overrun the Kaufering subcamps of Dachau. Division units came across various camps with their own unique stories, doing what they could for the survivors and witnessing the horrors they had endured. Tens of thousands of mostly Jewish and Eastern European civilians were murdered at the Kaufering Camps, the 36th finding the remnants of those left behind and very few survivors.
